On October 31, 2024, Erez Calderon, a survivor of Hamas captivity, celebrated his Bar Mitzvah in an emotional Torah reading ceremony at a synagogue in Kiryat Gat.
The event was organized by Rabbi Avraham Attar, CEO of Lehosheet Yad, who personally guided Erez throughout the entire process—from his studies and preparations to the special moment of his Torah reading.
While the ceremony was filled with joy and excitement, it was also tinged with sadness and longing. Erez’s father, Ofer Calderon, was still being held in captivity, and his absence was deeply felt throughout the entire event.
